Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Browseby ("the Service", "We", "Us", or "Our") handles information when You use our browser extensions and our website. It explains what data We collect, what We do with it, and what rights You have under applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
By using the Service, You agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
Data Controller: Filipe M., operating as Browseby Location: Portugal Contact email: team@browseby.app
A postal address is available upon written request to the email above. We will respond within 7 business days.
If You have any questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise Your data protection rights, contact Us at the email above. We respond to all GDPR requests within 30 days.
2. Summary at a Glance
We have designed Browseby's products to respect Your privacy by default:
Our extensions do not transmit your browsing data anywhere. All recently closed tabs, extended history, pinned items, and workspaces are stored exclusively on Your device using Chrome's local storage APIs.
We do not run analytics, telemetry, or tracking inside our extensions.
The only outbound network requests the extensions make are to Lemon Squeezy, and only when You activate, deactivate, or revalidate a Pro license.
If You purchase a Pro license, Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor) collects Your email and payment information. We never see or store Your card details.
The sections below explain each of these points in detail.
3. What Our Extensions Do on Your Device
Our extensions request only the Chrome permissions strictly needed for their functionality. For Quick Reopen specifically, this includes:
sessions— to read recently closed tabs and windows from the Chrome browser API. This is what allows You to reopen them.tabs— to capture title, URL, and favicon of tabs at the moment they are closed, so We can build the extended history feature (Pro). We never read open tab content.storage— to save Your closed tab history, preferences, pinned items, and Pro license status locally on Your device.
All data created by these permissions stays on Your device. Specifically:
The list of recently closed tabs is stored in
chrome.storage.local, which is sandboxed to the extension and never leaves Your computer unless You explicitly export it.Pinned items, workspaces, and preferences are stored in
chrome.storage.local.Your Pro license status is stored in
chrome.storage.sync, which Google Chrome may sync between Your own devices when You are signed in to Chrome with the same Google account. This sync is operated by Google, not by Us — see Google's privacy policy for details.
Favicons: To display website icons next to each closed tab, the extension loads favicons from Google's public favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons). This means Google receives the domain name of each closed tab when the popup is open. No browsing content, page titles, or personal data is sent — only the domain (e.g., github.com). If You prefer not to share domain names with Google, You can disable favicons in the extension's Options page (coming in a future update).
We do not have servers that receive, log, or store any of this data.
4. Information Collected When You Purchase Pro
If You choose to purchase a Pro license, the checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy collects:
Your email address — required to deliver the license key
Your name — optional, used on the invoice
Billing address and country — used by Lemon Squeezy to calculate applicable VAT
Payment details — processed by Lemon Squeezy and its underlying payment processor, Stripe; We never see or store Your card information
When You activate the license inside the extension, the extension makes a request to Lemon Squeezy's API (api.lemonsqueezy.com) containing:
The license key You entered
A device identifier generated by Chrome for Your installation
A human-readable instance name (e.g., your Chrome profile name)
The extension stores the validated license details locally on Your device. It revalidates the license against Lemon Squeezy approximately once every 24 hours while online. No browsing data is ever transmitted in these requests.
For more details on how Lemon Squeezy handles Your data, please review their privacy policy at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
5. Information Collected on Our Website

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect against fraud or abuse.
8. International Data Transfers
Some of Our service providers (Lemon Squeezy, Stripe, Google) are based in the United States. Where Your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, We rely on appropriate safeguards, including the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable.
9. Data Retention

Email subscriber data is retained until You unsubscribe or request deletion.
Support correspondence is retained for up to 24 months after the last interaction.

Access the personal data We hold about You
Rectify inaccurate data
Erase Your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements
Restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances

11. Children's Privacy
Quick Reopen is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If You believe a child has provided personal data to Us, please contact Us and We will delete it promptly.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and We cannot guarantee absolute security. The extension's reliance on local-only storage for browsing data significantly reduces exposure, since this data never leaves Your device.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When We do, We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify You via email (if You are subscribed) or through a notice in the extension or on our website.
